ICSI (Intracytoplasmic Sperm Microinjection)

It is a variant technique of IVF consisting of the introduction of a single sperm into an egg.  It is used to respond to cases of male fertility issues.

It is used mainly when there is a decreased sperm count, and even in cases of total absence of sperm since this can be obtained by aspiration of epididymal or by testicular biopsy.
